Royal Caribbean employees came together to celebrate President and CEO Michael Bayley’s 45 years with the company.
The surprise celebration included a spirit tunnel, a DJ and Royal Caribbean entertainment as employees honored one of the cruise line’s longest-serving and most influential leaders.
“Michael, your vision, passion and leadership have helped shape Royal Caribbean into the company we all know and love,” Vicki Freed, Royal Caribbean International’s senior vice president of sales and trade support and service, said in a social media post. “You’re an inspiration to us all.”

Bayley began his career in 1981 as an assistant purser aboard the Nordic Prince. He later held several shipboard and shoreside positions before becoming president and CEO of Celebrity Cruises in 2012. In 2014, he was named president and CEO of Royal Caribbean International.
Under his leadership, Royal Caribbean introduced some of the world’s largest and most advanced cruise ships, including vessels from the Oasis and Icon classes. He also helped lead the development of Perfect Day at CocoCay and guided the cruise line through the shutdown and return to service during the COVID-19 pandemic.
From assistant purser to president and CEO, Bayley’s journey is an inspiring example of dedication and growth within the cruise industry.
Congratulations to Michael Bayley on 45 remarkable years with Royal Caribbean.
