Carnival Promotes Raffaele Cinque to Chief Engineer

Carnival Cruise Line has announced Raffaele Cinque’s promotion to chief engineer, marking a major career milestone after nearly two decades with the company.

Cinque joined Carnival in 2007 and steadily advanced through the engineering ranks. In announcing his promotion, the cruise line highlighted his technical knowledge, leadership and commitment to helping junior engineers develop their skills.

His maritime background includes studies at I.T.N. Nino Bixio in Italy. His professional profile also lists a chief engineer qualification for ships with main propulsion machinery of 3,000 kW or more.

Carnival’s recognition gives particular attention to the people behind the machinery. Alongside his own professional development, Cinque has helped build engineering teams and mentored colleagues working their way through the ranks, experience he now brings to his new position.

The chief engineer leads a department whose work touches almost every part of life aboard a cruise ship. Carnival’s engineering roles cover propulsion, engines, fuel systems, water production and wastewater treatment, alongside maintenance, safety procedures and environmental compliance. Much of that work happens behind the scenes, keeping essential systems operating throughout each voyage.
