Holland America Line has credited its shipboard and shoreside employees after earning recognition in the Mid-Size and Large-Size Ship categories of Condé Nast Traveler’s 2026 Readers’ Choice Awards.
The company said the results mark the third consecutive year that readers have recognized Holland America among the best cruise lines. In a message celebrating the honors, it thanked team members around the world for the service and attention to detail that shape guests’ experiences.
Readers assessed their voyages on factors including service, ship design, food and amenities. Those categories cover much of the daily work carried out by crew, from preparing meals and maintaining cabins to delivering entertainment and helping passengers throughout their cruise.
Holland America placed that contribution at the center of its announcement, saying the recognition belongs to the employees who bring its guest experience to life.
In an official article published October 12, the company highlighted several elements of its onboard offering. These include Dutch Day traditions, such as stroopwafel turndown service, alongside dining experiences, live music and stage performances.
The recognition spans a fleet with different ship sizes and layouts. Holland America’s ships are organized into four classes: Pinnacle, Signature, Vista and R Class.
Its Pinnacle Class includes Rotterdam, Nieuw Statendam and Koningsdam, while Eurodam and Nieuw Amsterdam belong to the Signature Class. Noordam, Oosterdam, Westerdam and Zuiderdam make up the Vista Class, with Volendam and Zaandam in the smaller R Class.
That range allows the company to offer different experiences, from ships with a wider selection of dining and entertainment spaces to smaller vessels suited to destinations with access restrictions.
Volendam, for example, can travel beneath bridges along the St. Lawrence River to reach Montréal, illustrating how ship size can influence an itinerary.
