The cruise ship Anthem of the Seas barely passed the recent USPH Inspection. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Inspectors boarded the vessel on January 2, at Port Canaveral, Florida, and found several violations. The ship was eventually given 86 points which is only one point of failing the inspection (an 85 or lower score on the CDC's 100-point inspection scale is considered failing grade).
Five P&O Arcadia crew members were injured yesterday when a lifeboat fell into the sea. The cruise ship was docked at Ponta Delgada, Azores when a terrible accident occurred during a routine lifeboat drill. All five injured crew members were inside the lifeboat. One crew member with broken ribs was taken to local hospital for further treatment. He was then returned to ship. The other four crew members were lightly injured with cuts and bruises and been treated onboard.
Royal Caribbean has announced its annual raise of automatic gratuities for the crew. Starting January 2, 2018, guests in regular staterooms will pay a $14.50 per guest per day service charge and $17.50 for guests in Grand Suite and above.
