The German cruise ship Aida Prima recovered a body of an unidentified person from the Mediterranean yesterday at around 1:30 pm. Prima was sailing from the Spanish port of Malaga to Palma de Mallorca when a guest spotted a lifeless body floating in the sea. After alerting the ship's officers crew immediately triggered a man-over-board alarm and initiated a rescue operation. The passengers were then instructed to clear the open deck areas completely.
Two passengers are suing the German Cruise Line TUI Cruises for psychological and emotional pain they endured after they were kicked off a cruise ship the second day of their Caribbean cruise. The couple boarded the ship “Mein Schiff 5” in April, and the following day they were told by the ship's officers they must leave the vessel in Barbados. As reported by Reise Reporter the couple had been "passionate" in their stateroom and they forgot to close the balcony door.
Due to the increased number of crew members who joined cruise lines with the intent of jumping ship and stay in the USA illegally, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) imposed new restrictions. The new temporary restrictions regarding shore leave in the ports in New York (Brooklyn and Manhattan) and New Jersey (Cape Liberty) states that only crew members with completed five contracts can go ashore. This is industry-wide and affects all cruise ships entering these ports.
Several cruise lines have canceled port stops in Barcelona due to the protests and unrests in the capital of Catalonia. The situation in Barcelona is tense and is getting more and more restless after harsh prison sentences handed to the pro-independence leaders by the Spain’s Supreme Court. A passenger on the Royal Caribbean cruise ship Allure of the Seas was photographed standing on the opposite side of the balcony railings, dangerously close to the edge of the ship. The photo was posted in a popular Royal Caribbean Facebook group by Peter Blosic, who has witnessed this dangerous behavior and shot the photo yesterday while the ship was at sea. According to his comment, he showed the photo of the woman standing on the opposite side of the balcony railing and alerted the concierge.
After the transatlantic crossing from Kiel, Germany, following stops in Saint John, New Brunswick and Halifax, Nova Scotia the cruise ship MSC Meraviglia finally arrived in New York on 7th of October. The news was broadcasted by all mainstream media as the vessel become the largest ship with 4,488 guests to ever dock in New York. However, as we were informed by several crew members onboard, out of 1500 crew working on the ship only 38 employees were allowed to go ashore.
A person went overboard from the cruise ship Costa Pacifica last night, according to passengers who reported the incident. Costa Pacifica was en route to Malaga and suddenly changed course just before sailing to the strait of Gibraltar, going back to search for the missing person.
