TUI Cruises has welcomed another new captain to its bridge team, appointing Adam Świetlik to command the Mein Schiff 4. According to Schiffe und Kreuzfahrten, Świetlik officially assumed command of the vessel on July 19, 2026, taking over from Captain Panagiotis Varotsos, who has gone on scheduled leave.

Świetlik brings more than 15 years of cruise industry experience to his new role. His maritime career in the cruise sector began in 2010 when he joined Celebrity Cruises as a bridge officer. Four years later, he moved to TUI Cruises, where he initially served as a safety officer before being promoted to staff captain in 2019.

After seven years as second-in-command, Świetlik has now reached the rank of captain, marking a significant milestone in his career.

His first assignment as master sees him navigating Mein Schiff 4 on its Adriatic itinerary. The ship is currently operating seven-night roundtrip cruises from Trieste, Italy, with visits to ports across Italy, Croatia, Montenegro, Greece, and Slovenia. The seasonal program will continue through October, with guests also able to combine consecutive sailings into longer two-week vacations.

Świetlik becomes the third officer promoted to captain within TUI Cruises in 2026. Earlier this year, Kira Schikorr took command of Mein Schiff 6, while Alexander Orendt began his first command aboard Mein Schiff 3. The promotions come as the cruise line continues expanding its fleet, most recently with the introduction of Mein Schiff Flow, creating additional leadership opportunities across its growing operation.
