We are deeply saddened to report that a crew member has passed away on board the cruise ship Carnival Conquest. Harry Soelistijono age 66, from Indonesia died on Wednesday, September 11, 2019. Harry was a true veteran working for Carnival Cruise Line for over 35 years. In the past 17 years, he was working on the position Headwaiter and was well known by many Carnival team members and guests. According to unofficial reports he died from a heart attack while finishing 6 months from his last contract.

A letter was posted on Crew Information board on Carnival Conquest signed by the Master of the vessel Captain Renato Bendinelli, saying:

“As some of you may have heard, one of our team members, Headwaiter Harry Soelistijono, passed away this afternoon.

Harry was born in Indonesia and began his career with us in 1984. In 2020 he was promoted to Headwaiter. As a 35-year veteran, Harry was a wonderful and dedicated team member. He was quiet and humble but he always shared a warm smile and a great sense of humor with everyone he met. As evidenced by his very high TGEM scores, he was a very hard worker who always endeavored to deliver excellent service to our guests.

Harry leaves behind his wife and 2 sons. His family has been notified and our Care Team is providing support to them.

The loss of a friend and colleague is a difficult experience for all of us. We realize some of you may have been affected by this loss. Should you feel that you need support, please let your department head, HR Director or medical team know.

Please join me and the entire Carnival family by keeping Harry, his family and friends in our thoughts and prayers.”

The recruiting company CTI Group Indonesia has also shared the sad news with a photo of Harry saying "We would like to send our deepest condolences for one of Team Member of Carnival onboard in Carnival Conquest on 11 Sept 2019. May the whole family stay strong."
