Carnival Cruise Line is celebrating Antonio Coppola’s promotion to Chief Engineer, now leading the technical team aboard Carnival Adventure.

Carnival President Christine Duffy shared the news on after Coppola flew from Australia to Miami for the celebration. Sareing his progress through the company and the roles that helped bring him to this milestone.

Duffy said Coppola helped launch Carnival’s Facility Maintenance Manager role before serving as Staff Chief Engineer. In June, he took technical command of Carnival Adventure.

Those milestones trace his path from joining the company aboard Carnival Elation to taking on one of the most senior positions in a ship’s engineering department.

“Your journey shows whats possible at Carnival, and were proud to have you leading on Carnival Adventure,” Duffy wrote.

The Miami visit gave Carnival’s leadership an opportunity to recognize that journey in person. While the celebration took place recently, Duffy’s post makes clear that Coppola had already taken technical command of the ship in June.

Leading Aboard Carnival Adventure

Coppola’s appointment places him aboard a ship that became part of Carnival Cruise Line’s Australian expansion. Previously named Pacific Adventure, the vessel joined the Carnival fleet in March 2025 alongside Carnival Encounter, following the integration of P&O Cruises Australia into Carnival.

Carnival Adventure was officially welcomed in Sydney during a celebration led by Duffy. The addition of the two vessels expanded Carnival’s Australian fleet to four ships, joining Carnival Splendor and Carnival Luminosa.

As Chief Engineer, Coppola takes on a leadership role in the technical operation of the vessel. Behind the passenger experience is an engineering team whose daily work keeps the ship’s machinery and essential systems running.

His promotion brings recognition to that side of shipboard life, where much of the work happens away from public view.

From Carnival Elation in 2006 to Carnival Adventure today, Coppola’s career reflects years of advancement within the company. Duffy’s message celebrated both the promotion and the journey that brought him there.
