Adora Cruises has announced the appointment of Li Bin as captain of the cruise ship Adora Mediterranea, where he will assume full responsibility for the vessel's maritime operations.

Captain Li brings more than 20 years of maritime experience and will oversee the ship's navigation, safety, and day-to-day operational management. Earlier this year, he also took part in the sea trials of the company's second Chinese-built large cruise ship, which is scheduled to enter service later this year.

The appointment follows Adora Cruises' decision in March to name Wei Zhiyi as captain of Adora Magic City, China's first domestically built large cruise ship. With Chinese captains now leading two of its vessels, the cruise line says it is continuing to strengthen its localization strategy and invest in developing homegrown maritime talent.

Alongside the announcement, Adora Cruises unveiled a new training manual for deck, engine, and electrical cadets as part of a broader initiative to prepare the next generation of Chinese cruise officers. The company is also partnering with maritime universities to recruit and train future officers for its expanding fleet.

Adora Cruises currently operates Adora Magic City, Adora Mediterranea, and Gulangyu, with Adora Huacheng set to be delivered in November 2026.
