Star Princess made a striking entrance into her inaugural Alaska season with a unique celebration in Seattle, where the skyline lit up with an Alaska-themed drone show welcoming the ship’s arrival.
The one-night event, held at Seattle Center, featured hundreds of synchronized drones forming shapes inspired by Alaska’s landscapes, wildlife, and adventurous spirit.
The show served as the official kickoff for the ship’s first Alaska deployment, drawing locals and visitors to witness the spectacle just days before the vessel’s maiden sailing from the port.
Princess Cruises confirmed the display was designed not only as entertainment but also as a tribute to Alaska’s natural beauty and Seattle’s key role as a gateway to the region.
Following the celebration, Star Princess began her inaugural Alaska season on May 3, sailing roundtrip itineraries from Seattle’s Pier 91 through the Inside Passage. The ship is scheduled to operate 20 weekly voyages through September, visiting ports such as Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway, and Sitka, with glacier viewing experiences at Endicott Arm and Dawes Glacier.
The arrival marks a major milestone for Princess Cruises, as the new 177,800-ton ship—capable of carrying approximately 4,300 guests—joins the line’s largest-ever Alaska program.
