Princess Cruises is introducing a new program aimed at improving food quality in crew dining areas across its fleet, according to an internal message from Sami Kohen, Vice President of Food & Beverage.
The Crew Mess Food Quality Assurance Program took effect May 1, 2026, and is designed to improve consistency, nutrition, and overall meal experience for crew members onboard.
Under the new system, officers ranked two stripes and above from all departments, not just food and beverage, will take part in regular food reviews. Using a short iPad-based questionnaire, participants will evaluate meals in the crew mess several times a year. Each review is expected to take about 15 minutes.
Feedback will be reviewed by the Hotel General Manager, with findings discussed during monthly Crew Welfare Committee meetings. The company says this will help identify issues, address root causes, and implement improvements. A formal escalation process has also been set up to raise concerns to shoreside leadership when needed.
Princess emphasized that food quality is a shared responsibility across all departments, not just the culinary team. Leaders are expected to provide honest feedback and support ongoing improvements.
The initiative is part of a broader effort to support crew wellbeing, with the company noting that quality meals play an important role in morale and daily performance onboard.
