Six Packages Of Cocaine Discovered On The Cruise Ship MSC Divina

Mexican authorities seized six packets of cocaine on board the cruise ship MSC Divina docked at the Port of Cozumel, Mexico, on January 29. Riviera Maya News reports that the raid took place after Office of the Attorney General of the Republic received an anonymous tip about the possibility of a suspicious package on the cruise ship. Federal Ministerial Police, Navy Secretariat, and Federal Police boarded the cruise liner at around 10:55 a.m. and with the help of drug-sniffing dogs, they found the narcotics. Six taped packets of drugs, reported to be cocaine, were hidden inside a wall behind a toilet. There were no reported arrests at the time of the discovery of the drugs. The reports do not mention the weight of the cocaine.

MSC Divina departed on Monday from George Town, Grand Cayman on a 13 Night Caribbean voyage before arriving in Cozumel. Authorities believe that the cocaine was bound for the United States because the final stop of the ship was Miami, Florida.

On November 17, 2018, there was also a cocaine bust onboard the MSC Cruises ship MSC Seaside while the vessel was docked in Miami. US Customs and Border Protection Officers arrested seven crew members and seized six kilos of cocaine and over $100,000 in cash. CBP Officers conducted one more raid on November 24th shortly after MSC Seaside docked in the Port Miami. Crew members say that officers searched crew cabins and left them looking like hell and that the crew was taken ashore for interrogation.
