A 31 year old Jamaican chef, working onboard the cruise ship Celebrity Constellation was arrested by the Italian Police in Salerno for attempted murder. The 31 year old Jamaican crew member reportedly lost his temper after verbal argument with his supervisor, a 38 year-old Indian Head Chef. After the argument, the Jamaican with initials O.G. stabbed his supervisor in a stomach with a kitchen big knife.
Celebrity Infinity, struck one of the berths at the port of Ketchikan, Alaska, on Friday as the cruise ship was performing the docking maneuver. The incident happened on Friday at around 2:30 p.m. local time and according to the reports the ship tore off part of the platform and made a hole in its hull above the waterline. Luckily, the authorities on the dock noticed the approach was wrong and moved out of the way on time, but the ship still caused serious damage to the Berth Number 3. There are no injuries, but the damage is estimated between 2 and 3 million.
Carnival Elation experienced one-hour power outage at around 1:45 a.m. this morning, as the cruise ship was returning to its homeport Jacksonville. This caused the ship to arrive at 10:20 a.m. instead of scheduled arrival at 9:30 a.m. Some passengers in panic placed their lifejackets and headed to their muster stations. Carnival Cruise Line is reporting the outage as "short," and the situation was under control.
A dead fin whale was discovered on the bow of the Holland America cruise ship MS Zaandam early Sunday morning at around 5 a.m. just as the ship was preparing to dock in Seward. Investigators from NOAA and members of the Alaska SeaLife Center and Alaska Marine Mammal Stranding Network and were dispatched to the scene. It's too early to say if the whale was killed when struck by Zaandam or if was already dead when it became lodged on the cruise ship bow.
A 23-year-old student from Kraguevac, Serbia, identified as Jovan Spasic was stabbed four times during graduation excursion on a cruise ship sailing from Barcelona to Rome. Cruise ship crew member was arrested in Livorno, Italy on charges of sexual assault of a seven-year old child. According to the Italian News Media, the incident happened on Thursday, May 26 in the center near via Grande. A woman witnessing the incident said that the man approached a group of children, and moved towards a little girl and started to rub on her for a few seconds.
