Crew Member Medevacked from Spirit of Adventure

A crew member onboard the Spirit of Adventure operated by Saga Cruises was evacuated by helicopter after falling ill while the ship was sailing off the coast of Spain.

The rescue occurred approximately 63 miles from Estaca de Bares, when the onboard doctor determined that the crew member required immediate medical evacuation. Maritime Rescue coordinated the response, instructing the ship to head toward A Coruña while deploying the Helimer 402 helicopter.

The evacuation took place around midnight, with the crew member airlifted to Alvedro Airport. From there, emergency services transported the individual by ambulance to the University Hospital Complex of A Coruña (CHUAC) for further treatment.

The nationality of the crew member and the nature of the medical emergency have not been revealed at this time.

We wish the crew member a speedy recovery.
