Next year P&O will say farewell to their cruise ship Pacific Eden. The company announced that starting next year the vessel will be sailing under the banner of the cruise company, Cruise & Maritime Voyages.

Carnival Glory was stranded for several hours outside the port of San Juan, Puerto Rico due to mechanical damage of one of its anchors. The ship’s anchor mechanism was activated for unexplained reasons and released around 200 feet of chain while the vessel was almost a mile from the port. Ships officers tried to retrieve the starboard anchor but without success, because it was stuck at the seabed. Coast Guard in San Juan, responded to the scene sending two tug boats to assist the ship.

The premier retailer in the cruise industry, Starboard Cruise will start several important cruise ship retail openings on three new ships this year. Starboard Cruise will operate shops on three key vessels in 2018, Royal Caribbean Symphony of the Seas and Carnival Horizon set to sail in April, and Celebrity Edge is due to float out in December this year.

Princess Cruises, Royal Caribbean and Carnival Cruise Line have canceled all shore excursions involving ferries in Cozumel, following the U.S. State Department warning.

Carnival Cruise Line appointed Queen Latifah to be a godmother of the latest cruise ship Carnival Horizon. The baptizing ceremony will be held during an invitation-only overnight gala event in New York City on May 23, 2018.

A crew member on board the cruise ship Carnival Legend was airlifted to hospital after suffering from appendicitis. The Carnival cruise ship left Melbourne the previous day and was sailing to Isle of Pines, New Caledonia when the bridge officers requested assistance for a medical evacuation.

Carnival Cruise line will launch an internal investigation following the actions taken by their security personnel during the incident onboard Carnival Legend. “The actions seen on the video by our security team are not in line with our values and policies.

2017 was a tough year for the cruise industry regarding the sanitation inspections conducted by the United States Public Health Authorities. A record number of fifteen cruise ships fail to pass the inspection, however, on the other hand, many cruise ships passed with a perfect score of 100 points. Looking at the CDC inspection scores for 2017, we decided to do an analysis and find out what is the average score of each cruise line.

Carnival Liberty is the latest Carnival Cruise Line ship to fail the USPH inspection. The official report was released by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention stating that the unannounced inspection was conducted on January 4, 2018, when the cruise ship arrived in Port Canaveral, Florida.
