Carnival Cruise Line is celebrating the first anniversary of its private destination, Celebration Key on Grand Bahama, marking a successful first year that has seen the destination welcome more than 2.4 million guests.
Since opening in July 2025, Celebration Key has quickly become one of the cruise line's most popular destinations. It reached its one-millionth visitor within just five months and has continued to attract thousands of guests arriving on Carnival ships each week.
To mark the occasion, Carnival hosted a day of special anniversary festivities for passengers visiting aboard Carnival Conquest and Carnival Freedom. The celebration featured a vibrant Bahamian Junkanoo parade, interactive scavenger hunts, and a giant birthday cake greeting visitors at the entrance.
The destination has also shared some impressive first-year statistics. More than 500,000 guests have raced down its waterslides, over 400,000 mini donuts have been served at Mini Donut King, and bartenders have mixed more than 100,000 piña coladas for vacationers enjoying the island.
"Our goal is to create unforgettable memories for our guests, and in its first year, the destination has done exactly that for more than 2 million people," said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line. She added that the company is equally proud of the positive impact Celebration Key has had on the local community.
Beyond offering a new beach getaway for cruise passengers, Celebration Key has also become an important contributor to Grand Bahama's economy. Carnival says the destination supports around 1,000 year-round local jobs, while more than 80 percent of its retail and food outlets are operated by Bahamian-owned businesses.
The destination has also earned recognition for accessibility, becoming the first cruise destination to receive Sensory Inclusive Certification from KultureCity, reflecting Carnival's ongoing efforts to create a more welcoming environment for guests with sensory sensitivities and invisible disabilities.
At the same time, Carnival has expanded its Less Left Over food donation initiative to Celebration Key. The program distributes surplus food and unserved meals to local organizations, helping reduce food waste while supporting communities on Grand Bahama.
Looking ahead, Carnival says Celebration Key will continue to evolve. Although specific projects have not yet been announced, Duffy confirmed that new guest experiences and additional enhancements are already being planned as the company continues investing in both the destination and the local community.
After welcoming millions of visitors in just 12 months, Celebration Key appears set to remain a key part of Carnival Cruise Line's Caribbean operations for years to come.
