A fire aboard the cruise ship Amadea prompted the evacuation of 320 passengers while the vessel was docked in Rønne, Denmark, on Monday, September 14.

The fire started inside a linen-storage compartment while the ship was alongside Rønne’s cruise quay. Bornholm Police received the alarm at 7:21 a.m. The blaze was brought under control and extinguished within ten minutes.

No passengers or crew members were injured. Police confirmed that everyone evacuated from the ship was safe and in good condition.

Police officers, firefighters and the Danish Emergency Management Agency responded to the incident and remained at the cruise terminal while investigators examined the affected area.

Emil Gørløv, incident commander with Bornholm Fire Service, praised the ship’s crew for evacuating the passengers quickly and helping emergency responders navigate the vessel.

“They did a fantastic job evacuating the ship, and they gave us good guidance so we could quickly find our way around on board,” Gørløv said.

Employees at Rønne Port also helped coordinate the response by directing emergency vehicles along the access road toward the ship.

Authorities said the immediate danger had passed. Bornholm Police have launched an investigation to determine what caused the fire inside the linen compartment.

The Bahamas-flagged Amadea is operated by German cruise company Phoenix Reisen. The ship is approximately 193 meters long, has a gross tonnage of around 29,000 and can accommodate about 600 passengers.
