Five aspiring ship officers supported by Carnival Corporation & plc have been recognized for their outstanding achievements during maritime training, highlighting the company's continued investment in developing the next generation of officers for Cunard and P&O Cruises.
The cadets were honored by two of the United Kingdom's leading maritime institutions—Fleetwood Nautical Campus and City of Glasgow College—as part of the Carnival Corporation Cadet Programme, which combines academic education with onboard experience to prepare future deck, engineering and electro-technical officers.
Among this year's recipients, deck cadet Sarah received the Student of the Year award in the adult maritime category at Fleetwood Nautical Campus. In addition to achieving strong academic results, she was recognized for helping fellow cadets through study groups, assisting during college open days and volunteering at campus events. Reflecting on the recognition, Sarah said the award was an unexpected milestone that reinforced her confidence and acknowledged the support she has received from both the college and Carnival throughout her cadetship.
Another Fleetwood student, Jack, was named Student of the Year in the 16-18 maritime category after tutors praised his enthusiasm, willingness to help classmates and commitment to learning. He also volunteered at outreach events encouraging young people to consider careers in the maritime industry. Jack described the award as an honor that has motivated him to continue developing his skills as he progresses through the programme.
At the City of Glasgow College, deck cadet Ethan Henry received the Best Progress award in nautical science, recognizing his determination and continuous improvement during his studies. Meanwhile, electro-technical officer cadet George Dickson earned the Best Progress award in engineering and ETO studies after demonstrating significant development throughout his training and maintaining a high level of professionalism.
The fifth award recipient, El Mehdi, was recognized at MaritimeMT in Malta, where he graduated as both Top Performer and Valedictorian after completing his Officer of the Watch programme. A former mechanical engineer, El Mehdi successfully transitioned into the maritime sector, earning recognition for his academic performance, simulator training and practical sea service.
