TUI Mein Schiff 1 to be Transferred to Thomson Cruises

The cruise ship Mein Schiff 1 will retire from TUI Cruises fleet in the coming years. The company announced they will continue to launch only new ships specifically designed for its brand.

TUI farewell cruise of Mein Schiff 1 will draw to an end on April 11, 2018 in Palma de Mallorca, Spain.

Mein Schiff 1 will set sail on its final voyage under TUI flag from Singapore to Mallorca on 41 nights’ voyage and a shorter cruise departing from Antalya, Turkey to Mallorca on a 12 nights’ cruise.

The cruise ship was constructed in 1996 for Celebrity Cruises by Meyer shipyard as MS Galaxy and in 2008 was renamed Celebrity Galaxy. After 50 million euros renovation In 2009 the ship was taken over by TUI Group and renamed Mein Schiff 1.

Mein Schiff 1 will be transferred to Thomson Cruises to cater for the British market. The British shipping company Thomson Cruises owned by TUI Group will also take over Mein Schiff 2 in 2019 when new build cruise ship Mein Schiff 8 will enter in service for TUI Cruises.
