Sandy Cay MSC Cruises New Private Island Set to Open in 2028

MSC Cruises is expanding its private island offering in The Bahamas with the introduction of Sandy Cay, a new luxury destination scheduled to open in 2028 next to Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve.

Designed for both MSC Cruises and Explora Journeys guests, Sandy Cay will offer a more secluded and immersive experience, focused on tranquility and a deeper connection with nature. The island is envisioned as an intimate complement to Ocean Cay, creating a quieter escape shaped by the natural rhythms of the ocean.

Named after its pristine aragonite sands, among the brightest in the world, Sandy Cay aims to deliver a refined yet simple environment where serenity takes center stage. The concept builds on the same philosophy as Ocean Cay, blending luxury with environmental awareness and preserving the natural beauty of The Bahamas.

Located in the same crystal-clear waters, the new island will introduce a different dimension to the private destination experience, giving guests more choice between vibrant and peaceful settings.

At the same time, MSC confirmed further upgrades are coming to Ocean Cay. Planned enhancements include new dining venues, expanded beach areas for both families and adults, additional relaxation spaces, and new interactive marine conservation experiences.
