Port of Brisbane Celebrates 500th Cruise Ship Call

The Port of Brisbane has reached a major milestone, welcoming its 500th cruise ship to the Brisbane International Cruise Terminal (BICT) since the facility opened in 2022.

The historic call took place on Sunday, with Carnival Luminosa alongside the terminal, marking another chapter in Brisbane’s growing role as a key cruise gateway in Australia.

The Brisbane International Cruise Terminal officially welcomed its first cruise ship on 2 June 2022, when P&O Explorer made the inaugural call. In just over three and a half years, the terminal has gone on to host ships from many of the world’s largest cruise lines, connecting passengers to destinations across Australia and international ports while helping drive the continued expansion of Queensland’s cruise industry.

Behind every cruise ship visit is a significant operational effort. Around 130 staff, including Port of Brisbane personnel and partner organizations, work together for each ship call to ensure smooth arrivals, departures, passenger processing, and port operations.

The Port of Brisbane acknowledged the dedication and teamwork behind the milestone, extending thanks to port staff, cruise line partners, terminal operators, and the local community for their continued support since the terminal’s opening.
