Police Report Reveals What Really Happened in Disney Dream Overboard Incident

A police report revealed what really happened earlier this year when a five-year-old girl fell overboard from the Disney Dream cruise ship.

According to the report obtained by The Daily Mail, the child’s mother placed her daughter on the railing of a large porthole on deck 4 to take a photo. Believing it had a protective covering, she encouraged the girl to pose. Moments later, the child lost her balance and fell into the ocean.

The father immediately jumped in to save her after trying to alert the crew. Following her screams, he reached the girl and held her above water for more than ten minutes until the ship’s rescue team arrived. Both were safely recovered, and the girl escaped without injuries.

The report said that the porthole was open to the air with no glass or barrier, contradicting the mother’s assumption. Investigators described her actions as placing the child “in a life-threatening situation,” and recommended charges of child neglect. However, the local attorney’s office declined to press charges, closing the case.

The mother later claimed that Disney should have had coverings on the portholes and held the company responsible.

The incident, which went viral at the time, initially sparked confusion online, with some wrongly accusing the father of endangering his daughter. The official report now clarifies that he acted to save her life after the accidental fall — turning a tragic situation into a miraculous rescue at sea.
