A crew member onboard the ferry Color Fantasy had to be rescued at sea on Saturday, December 13, 2025, after suffering serious injuries shortly after the ship left Kiel on its way to Oslo, reported schiffe-und-kreuzfahrten. The injured crew member is a 30-year-old woman in need of urgent medical care.
The alarm was raised around 2:15 p.m., when the Norwegian Maritime Emergency Coordination Centre in Stavanger contacted Germany’s Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre in Bremen. From there, the German Maritime Search and Rescue Service (DGzRS) took over the operation.
The rescue cruiser HANS HACKMACK, which is based in Laboe, was immediately sent out to assist.
Not far from shore off Laboe the rescue vessel pulled alongside the 224-meter-long Color Fantasy. Thanks to calm conditions, with small waves and only a moderate breeze, the transfer of the injured crew member went smoothly.
Once in Laboe, the crew member was handed to emergency services. Because of the seriousness of her injuries, a rescue helicopter was called in and flew her to a specialized hospital for further treatment.
