Holland America Line Announces $500 Million Fleet Upgrade

Holland America Line has announced a $500 million modernization program that will transform six of its ships over the coming years.

Branded “Holland America Evolution,” the multi-year project will bring enhancements inspired by the line’s newer Pinnacle-class vessels to Oosterdam, Zuiderdam, Westerdam, Noordam, Nieuw Amsterdam, and Eurodam. Work is set to begin in fall 2027, starting with Oosterdam.

The upgrades will introduce new dining venues and bars, expanded accommodation options, and refreshed public spaces. A major highlight is the addition of new stateroom categories, including solo verandah cabins designed for single travelers, along with spacious Bridgeview Suites offering panoramic ocean views.

Popular onboard venues will also expand across the fleet, including the much-loved Grand Dutch Café, bringing a taste of the brand’s European heritage to more ships.

Behind the scenes, the project will focus on sustainability and efficiency. Plans include upgraded systems to reduce energy consumption, along with redesigned interiors that emphasize material reuse and waste reduction.

The investment reflects a broader push to modernize the fleet while maintaining the mid-sized ship experience that defines Holland America’s style of cruising.
