Cruise Ship Passenger Dies After Choking on Food

Spanish authorities are investigating the death of an 83-year-old British man who choked on food while dining aboard a cruise ship near the coast of Cádiz, Spain.

Kenneth Edward Cooper, a pensioner from Bournemouth, England, was enjoying a meal aboard the vessel on April 10 when he suddenly began choking. Medical staff on board immediately rushed to help, but his condition required immediate hospital attention on land.

The ship diverted it’s course and arrived at the port of Cádiz, where Cooper was transferred to a local health facility. Despite receiving medical care, he sadly passed away the following day.

Initially, details about the tragic event are unknown and the name of the cruise ship involved has not been publicly disclosed.

Authorities in Cádiz have reportedly opened an inquiry into the incident to better understand the circumstances surrounding Cooper’s passing. Meanwhile, his body has been repatriated to his hometown in Bournemouth for funeral arrangements
