Carnival Corporation Launches Meal Donation Program in Latin America

Carnival Corporation has become the first cruise company to sign formal agreements with food banks in Mexico, Honduras, and the Dominican Republic to donate surplus meals from its ships. This marks the program's first expansion into Latin America.

The initiative redirects freshly prepared but unserved meals to local organizations that support families in need. It's part of Carnival’s effort to reduce food waste and fight hunger in the communities its ships visit.

In Mexico, the partnership with Red BAMX will start in Ensenada. In Honduras, meals will go to schools and hospitals in Roatán. In the Dominican Republic, food will be distributed in Puerto Plata through the Catholic Diocese and Banco de Alimentos.

Since launching in 2017, the program has donated over 300,000 meals in Europe and the Caribbean. Carnival plans to expand it further across the Americas.
