AIDA Cruises Celebrates 30 Years

AIDA Cruises marked its 30th anniversary this week with a special event in Berlin attended by representatives from politics, the maritime sector, and the cruise industry to discuss the future of cruising.

The cruise line said around 17 million guests have sailed with AIDA since the company launched in 1996. Today, the fleet includes 11 ships, with two additional newbuilds planned for delivery in 2030 and 2031.

During the event, AIDA Cruises President Felix Eichhorn highlighted the company’s focus on responsible cruising, environmental investments, and modern technology.

AIDA said it plans more than 600 shore power connections in 2026, nearly ten times more than three years ago, as part of efforts to reduce emissions while ships are in port. The company is also investing around €700 million in a large modernization program across seven ships focused on energy efficiency and guest comfort.

The cruise line also noted that its ships are prepared for future use of biofuels and e-fuels, while AIDAprima currently operates with one of the largest battery systems in the cruise industry.

Over the past three decades, AIDA ships have visited 478 ports in 120 countries, becoming one of Germany’s most recognized cruise brands.
