Princess Cruises Unveils Major Mobile App Redesign

Princess Cruises has rolled out a significant update to its mobile app, introducing a redesigned navigation system, simplified terminology, and new features aimed at making it easier for guests to plan, book, and manage their cruise experience. The updates are designed to create a more intuitive, journey-focused experience from the moment a cruise is booked until disembarkation.

One of the biggest changes is a completely revamped navigation bar. While the app still features four main sections, several familiar tabs have been renamed to better reflect their purpose.

The former Service tab is now called Reserve, serving as a central hub where guests can browse and purchase onboard experiences, including dining, spa treatments, shore excursions, beverage packages, and other services. Onboard food and beverage delivery, previously known as OceanNow, is now accessed through a Delivery button within the Reserve section.

The Journey tab has been renamed Planner, while Profile is now simply Account. Princess has also updated several other terms throughout the app to improve clarity. For example, OceanReady becomes Check-In, CrewCall Chat is renamed Chat with Crew, MedallionNet Wi-Fi is shortened to Wi-Fi, and Shipmates becomes Companions for dining reservations.

The redesigned home screen now adapts to each stage of a guest's vacation. Before sailing, it guides passengers through important milestones such as check-in, arrival windows, luggage tags, boarding passes, and booking summaries. Promotional offers and countdown timers have also been added to highlight limited-time deals and encourage guests to complete pre-cruise planning. Once onboard, the home screen shifts its focus to daily events, dining, activities, and safety information before later displaying disembarkation details as the voyage comes to an end.

Princess says the new interface reduces the number of steps required to complete common tasks while presenting a more immersive and personalized experience. The company has also applied updated branding and visuals throughout the app.

Guests sailing on consecutive back-to-back cruises will also benefit from a practical enhancement. Through the Planner section, they can now browse and view shore excursions for upcoming sailings without waiting until the current cruise ends.

Additional improvements include a simplified Account section, making features such as onboard account information, celebrations, consent settings, and preferences easier to locate. Photo downloads also receive greater prominence on disembarkation day, while onboard chat functionality remains available only during the cruise.

According to Princess Cruises, the update is intended to create a smoother digital experience by reducing unnecessary clicks, simplifying navigation, and helping guests manage every stage of their vacation from a single mobile application.
