Norwegian Sky is completing its final cruise for Norwegian Cruise Line today, September 9, 2026, ending a 27-year career with the company before beginning a new chapter in India.

The ship's final NCL sailing is a nine-day Mediterranean cruise from Barcelona to Piraeus. A planned follow-up voyage through the Red Sea toward the Middle East was canceled due to the geopolitical situation.

Built in Bremerhaven and entering service in 1999, Norwegian Sky is currently the oldest ship in the NCL fleet. Following the final passenger disembarkation, the vessel is expected to be handed over to Cordelia Cruises under a long-term charter and renamed Cordelia Sky.

Some areas aboard the ship, including shops, the art gallery and spa facilities, were already restricted during the farewell voyage as preparations for the transition began. Restaurants, bars and lounges remained in normal operation.

Plans for conversion work at Dubai Drydocks World have reportedly been affected by the regional security situation, meaning the work will need to take place elsewhere.

Cordelia Sky is scheduled to begin sailing from Mumbai on October 23, 2026.

Norwegian Sky's sister ship, Norwegian Sun, is also expected to join Cordelia Cruises in India in fall 2027.
