Fire Quickly Contained at Norwegian Aura Construction Site

A small fire broke out at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy, where Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Aura is currently under construction.

A thick cloud of black smoke rising from the shipyard attracted attention in the surrounding area. Video of the incident was shared by Italian newspaper Il Piccolo.

According to reports from the scene, the fire started inside a container holding waste and leftover materials from work being carried out aboard the cruise ship.

Fincantieri’s internal emergency teams responded quickly and brought the fire under control. The situation was contained without requiring assistance from the local fire department.

No injuries or significant damage were reported.

A worker at the shipyard said the emergency teams were well trained and extinguished the fire without consequences for employees. Fincantieri is expected to investigate the cause and take steps to prevent a similar incident.

The worker added that welding and other operations involving open flames are closely monitored at the shipyard.
