After a three-year pause, TUI Cruises returns to Asia with the cruise ship Mein Schiff 5. The vessel reached its home port Singapore on December 6, and was greeted with a tugboat salute by a water cannon and representatives of the local authorities on the first call.
On December 6, 2022, Norwegian Cruise Line announced the increase of daily services charges, which provide gratuities to key onboard crew members. One person died and four were injured when a massive freak wave crashed into the expedition cruise ship Viking Polaris, during a storm as it sailed off the southernmost tip of South America.
