Regal Princess Sets Guinness World Record with 3,410 Margaritas in Eight Hours

Passengers and crew aboard Princess Cruises Regal Princess are heading back to Galveston with more than just vacation memories, they’re returning as part of a brand-new Guinness World Record.

On February 17, while the ship was in Cozumel, Mexico, guests and crew came together to break the record for the most margaritas sold in an eight-hour period. By the end of the challenge, an impressive 3,410 margaritas had been served, easily surpassing the previous record of 2,728. That’s an average of more than 426 margaritas per hour.

The atmosphere onboard quickly turned festive, with bars across Regal Princess busy serving the record-breaking drinks. According to Guinness World Records adjudicator Thomas Bradford, the excitement was impossible to miss.

“You could feel the celebration in every bar of Regal Princess,” Bradford said.

The margaritas were made using Pantalones Organic Blanco Tequila, a brand founded by Hollywood actor Matthew McConaughey and his wife, Camila Alves. The couple also shares a special connection with Princess Cruises, serving as godparents to the cruise line’s upcoming ship, Star Princess, and partnering with Princess’ premium liquor collection.

Princess Cruises revealed that its signature Pantalones 24K Margarita has become one of the most popular drinks onboard, with more than one million served between January 2025 and early January 2026.

Sami Kohen, Princess Cruises’ Vice President of Food and Beverage, said the record perfectly reflects the fun and energetic spirit of guests onboard.

“Celebrating one million 24K Margaritas and making history with a Guinness World Records title captures the incredible enthusiasm our guests brought to create this unforgettable moment at sea,” Kohen said.
