Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines has introduced Paul Hancox as its newest Cruise Director, bringing decades of industry experience and a strong background in guest entertainment to the fleet.
Hancox, originally from Burton-upon-Trent and now based in Wolverhampton, is a long-time cruise professional who began his career at sea with Princess Cruises in 1997. Starting out as a Cruisercise Fitness Manager, he later transitioned into the entertainment department in 2001, steadily working his way up to the role of Cruise Director across much of the fleet.
After years at sea, Hancox expanded his experience shoreside and abroad. He spent four years in the South Pacific with P&O Australia before the pandemic shifted his career temporarily onto land, where he worked with Center Parcs and Birmingham Airport. His return to cruising came in 2023, when he joined Saga Cruises as Cruise Director, reconnecting with his passion for guest service and onboard entertainment.
Now part of the Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines team, Hancox is already settling into his new role and sharing his extensive knowledge with the onboard crew. Known for being hands-on, Cruise Directors play a key role in shaping the onboard experience. From managing entertainment teams to hosting activities and evening shows, they are often among the most visible members of the ship’s leadership.
Outside of his professional life, Hancox is a keen football fan and a supporter of Aston Villa.
With a career spanning nearly three decades at sea and ashore, his appointment adds further experience to Fred. Olsen’s guest-facing team as the company continues to focus on delivering engaging and memorable cruise experiences.
