A New Year’s celebration aboard the cruise ship MSC Preziosa was briefly disrupted in the early hours on Friday, January 2, after strong winds hit the vessel while it was sailing. The incident occurred during a live DJ performance by Brazilian artist Alok, prompting ship officers to temporarily suspend the event for safety reasons.

According to reports from passengers on board, the ship encountered a sudden area of adverse weather, including strong winds and heavy rain, while returning from Búzios to Santos. As conditions worsened, the open-deck party was halted on the recommendation of the ship’s security team, and guests were asked to leave open deck areas as a precaution.

With approximately 5,000 people on board, some passengers reported feeling a brief tilt of the vessel, which contributed to a tense atmosphere. Videos shared on social media show guests moving quickly to indoor areas, while crew members followed established safety protocols and restricted access to exposed decks.

The interruption occurred after rain and wind affected technical equipment used for the performance, increasing the risk of continuing the show outdoors. DJ Alok left the stage once adverse weather procedures were activated, in line with onboard safety guidelines designed to protect passengers, crew, and performers.

As a precaution, circulation in open areas of the ship was temporarily suspended. Some guests chose to remain in indoor public spaces until conditions improved, while the crew monitored the situation and ensured passenger safety.

Following the passage of the weather system, ship officials confirmed that conditions had stabilized and that there was no report of significant damage to the vessel. Cleared areas were gradually reopened, and onboard activities resumed as normal.

Passengers later praised the crew’s response, noting that the situation was handled quickly and in an organized manner. Replacement equipment was arranged by the production team, allowing the event to continue once conditions were safe, and the overall cruise proceeded without further disruption.
