The crew of Wonder of the Seas once demonstrated their dedication to excellence during a recent U.S. Public Health (USPH) Inspection, earning a high score of 98. While the entire team performed exceptionally, one crew member stood out for his remarkable expertise and professionalism.
Chef Ikomang Impresses the Inspector
With confidence and poise, Chef Ikomang welcomed Inspector King and the ship’s leadership team at the entrance to the galley, setting the tone by inviting everyone to wash their hands before entering. His warm, disciplined approach immediately reflected the ship’s commitment to health and safety standards.
Throughout the inspection, the chef displayed outstanding organization and knowledge. When asked to review oyster tags, he quickly presented three envelopes, one for each month, demonstrating meticulous record-keeping. The inspector was visibly impressed by his preparation.
The highlight came when Inspector King posed a challenging question:
“I don’t expect you to know this, but what bacteria can grow in oysters if not handled correctly?”
Without hesitation, Chef Ikomang replied: “Vibrio vulnificus and Salmonella.”
The inspector was both surprised and delighted by the precise answer. In recognition, he awarded Chef Ikomang a WOW Card and stated he would use this example in future training sessions and inspections.
This proud moment not only celebrated Chef Ikomang’s expertise but also highlighted the ship’s culture of excellence and dedication to the highest public health standards. It was a true demonstration of the ROYAL Way, showcasing professionalism, knowledge, and pride in the industry.
Congratulations to Chef Ikomang and the entire Wonder team for achieving such an outstanding result and for continuing to WOW at every opportunity.
