Mein Schiff 6 Cruises Canceled After Greece Imposes Lockdown

Nov 06, 2020

TUI Cruises announced today that the Mein Schiff 6 voyages from Greece have been canceled. The decision comes after the Greek government ordered a state lockdown with curfews for a period of three weeks starting November 6th. TUI Cruises was able to secure a special permit for one more cruise starting November 8th, 2020, however, the upcoming voyage will be only a panoramic sailing.

TUI Cruises released the following statement:

"The Greek government yesterday announced a corona-related lockdown that will take effect from Saturday, November 7th. Due to the short-term nature and on the basis of our hygiene and health concept, we have received a special permit to carry out the trip to Greece from November 8th to 14th as a “blue trip” without shore excursions. Unfortunately, with a heavy heart, we have to cancel the other planned cruises to Greece that start on November 14th, 21st and 28th."

Previously TUI canceled cruises on Mein Schiff 1 departing from Kiel due to the German lockdown. After the cancelations of Mein Schiff 6 voyages, TUI cruises will operate only one ship with guests. Mein Schiff 2 is scheduled to start the winter cruise season in the Canary Islands departing today from Las Palmas on a 7 and 14 night Blue Voyages.

Costa Cruises has not yet announced any cancelations or adjustments of the Costa Deliziosa voyages. Costa Deliziosa sails from Trieste to Italian ports and stops in three Greek ports on its route.
