Around 90 passengers onboard Princess Cruises ship Sun Princess, were affected by gastrointestinal symptoms. The 2000 passengers on board docked in Brisbane, Australia yesterday morning, having completed a 12-day trip to Papua New Guinea. According to Princess Cruises, "only a small number" of the vacationers and crew were affected by the stomach bug. People on board started contracting Norovirus at the final days of the journey.

The cruise operator and the Queensland health authorities said that the vessel and terminal will undergo a "prolonged disinfection" ahead of the following 14-day voyage to New Zealand. The public health authorities said none of the people affected by norovirus needed hospitalization.

According to Chanel 9 News Brisbane, many of the 900 crew members were also affected by the norovirus outbreak. After two hours delay and extensive deep cleaning, Sun Princess was given green light for boarding new passengers.
