Time is money, and in the corporate world, each minute means big money. Following the analysis presented by InfoData, which shows how much the top 25 companies in the world earn per second, we decided to find out how much the biggest cruise companies in the world earn per minute. We collected data from the top 6 cruise corporations and compared their revenue in 2016. The combined revenue of the top 6 biggest cruise companies in the world is astonishing $65,354 per minute.

Cruise Company earnings per minute

Carnival Corporation & Plc. makes $31,181 per minute 

The leading cruise company in the world, Carnival Corporation & plc is holding almost 50% of the cruise market.  With a combined fleet of over 100 vessels across 10 cruise line brands and 120,000 employees, the company has reported 16.39 billion USD revenue in 2016. This means that Carnival is making $31,181 each minute. Carnival Corporation & Plc cashed in a hefty profit of $2.779 billion in 2016.

Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. makes $16,165 per minute

The world’s second largest cruise company, Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. which owns Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises, Azamara Club Cruises, and holds a 50% stake in TUI Cruises and Pullmantur Cruises has reported earnings of $8,496 billion in 2016. RCL made $16,165 per minute that year and a net profit of $ 1.07 billion. It is worth mentioning that for the first time in the cruise industry history Royal Caribbean has decided to share part of the profit with their shoreside and onboard employees.

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. makes $9,273 per minute

The American-Bermudian company Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. headquartered in Miami holds 8% of the global cruise market. With a combined fleet of 25 cruise ships operated under the brands of Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises, the company reported $4,874 billion revenue and a $ 1.07 billion profit in 2016. Divided in minutes, NCLH made $9,273.

MSC Cruises makes $3,900 per minute

The world's largest privately owned cruise company, employing 16,300 people worldwide is part of the Mediterranean Shipping Company S.A. (MSC), the world's second-biggest container shipping operator.  MSC Cruises operates a fleet of 15 cruise ships, focusing on the European and South American market. The company reported total revenues of $2, 05 billion in 2016, making $3,900 each minute that year. By the end of 2026, MSC Cruises will have 11 additional cruise ships, including 4 mega liners from the “World Class”. Capable to accommodate 7,000 passengers the “World Class” vessels will be the largest cruise ships in terms of capacity.

TUI Cruises makes $3,044 per minute

The German-British leisure travel group TUI owns three cruise brands TUI Cruises, Hapag-Lloyd Cruises and Marella Cruises former (Thomson Cruises) with a combined fleet of 13 cruise ships. TUI caters for the German and British speaking customers who opt for a premium cruise experience.  The company reported $1,6 billion revenues in 2016, making $3,044 each minute.

Disney Cruise Line makes $1,788 per minute

The subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company, Disney Cruise Line holds 3% worldwide cruise market by passengers. Disney Cruise Line currently operates four ships and three more will join the fleet in 2021, 2022, and 2023. With total revenues of $950 million in 2016 DCL made $1,788 per minute.
