Costa Mediterranea Heading to Singapore After Completing Crew Repatriation in Manila Bay

With the disembarkation of the last group of Italian crew and supervisors which was finalized yesterday, the cruise ship Costa Mediterranea has finally completed repatriation of all crew members on board. After disembarking the Indonesian crew in Jakarta, Costa Mediterranea arrived in Manila Bay on June 22, to repatriate around 700 Filipino crew.

Costa Mediterranea Arrives in Jakarta to Repatriate the Indonesia Crew

The cruise ship Costa Mediterranea arrived today off the coast of Jakarta to disembark the Indonesian crew members. Around 400 Indonesian crew members are doing disembarkation at 7 am on the morning escorted by the Indonesian navy and Coast Guard. The disembarkation procedure will take place 7 am to 12noon for all Indonesian crew members who will disembark today., and the ship will stay off the coast of Jakarta till tomorrow.

Costa Prepares for Potential Restart Of Cruises In August

Costa Cruises is preparing to restart a limited number of vessels in the upcoming month of August. According to an internal document obtained by Crew Center the company has addressed the crew who are still on board the ships asking them to continue, or extend original contracts and support this vital restart of operations. Several crew members mentioned that the company plans to restart first the cruise ships Costa Diadema and Costa Smeralda at the beginning of August.

Costa Mediterranea Set Sail Today To Repatriate Filipino and Indonesian Crew

The cruise ship Costa Mediterranea has set sail today from the port of Brindisi, Italy on a long journey to Asia to repatriate Indonesian and Filipino crew members home. The voyage will take the crew through the Suez Canal and make an anchorage to do bunkering operation. Costa Mediterranea will arrive in Muscat on May 27, for loading of goods, and the same day the ship will set sail to Singapore. 

38 Costa Crew Members Contract COVID-19 During Their Stay In A Hotel In Italy

Costa Luminosa crew member has sent us a message saying that 38 Indian crew members contracted Coronavirus during their stay in a hotel in Italy. About 120 Indian crew members disembarked Costa Luminosa on March 24, when they all tested negative before leaving the ship. All 120 Indian crewmembers were transferred to the Hotel B&B Plaza in Pisa, before their final repatriated back to India.

According to a crew member wishing to remain anonymous one of the reasons for this delay is because new captain boarded the ships and needs to undergo 14 days quarantine.
