MSC Cruises celebrates MSC Grandiosa flotation ceremony

Jan 11, 2019

MSC Cruises, the world's largest private-owned cruise company together with one of the world's leading shipbuilders Chantiers de l'Atlantique, celebrated the flotation ceremony of MSC Grandiosa. The latest MSC cruise liner is in the shipyard of Saint Nazaire, France, where the work will continue until final delivery in October 2019.

MSC Grandiosa is the third ship of the Meraviglia class, and the first Meraviglia-Plus class vessel, with a greater tonnage and more passenger capacity than the first two Meraviglia class ships MSC Meraviglia, and MSC Bellissima. Following the unprecedented expansion of its fleet, this vessel will be the fifth cruise ship to join MSC Cruises in just two and a half years.

MSC Grandiosa will have an even longer Mediterranean-style promenade, the exclusive innovative feature of the Meraviglia generation ships that is used as a meeting point on board. Among other specialty restaurants, you will have a new bar, L'Atelier Bistrot, with a lounge with a dance floor, impressionist art and a terrace with Parisian tables and chairs. In this prized promenade will be made surprise show, including flash mobs and themed parties as well as impressive projections on the overhead, LED screen of more than 98.5 meters.

Like the other Meraviglia class ships, MSC Grandiosa will have two new and exclusive Cirque du Soleil at Sea shows. This new addition is part of a long-term agreement between MSC Cruises and Cirque du Soleil, the world leader in entertainment.

Following the competition of MSC Bellissima in February 2019, MSC Grandiosa will become the second ship of MSC Cruises to have ZOE, the first virtual cruiser assistant in the cruise industry, as a new feature of MSC for Me. This service will provide passengers with a simple and stress-free new way to receive information that is normally given at the Passenger Relations counter.

Scheduled to join MSC Cruises fleet on October 31, 2019, MSC Grandiosa will begin its regular sailings from Barcelona on November 18, 2019.
