Crew member with serious medical condition evacuated from Ovation of the Seas

A crew member was evacuated from one of the largest cruise ships in the world Ovation of the Seas. Due to a serious medical condition onboard Ovation of the Seas, the Captain has increased speed to maximum 22 knots and change course to Albany, Australia, reports Singapore Cruise Society. The mega cruise liner made an emergency stop in Albany today from where rescue helicopter attended the scene and medevacked the crewmember at around 3:30 pm.

The male crew member, whose age and position is unknown, was taken by air to Albany Health Campus. After leaving Albany, the ship resumed course to Adelaide, Australia. Ovation of the Seas is currently sailing a 14-nights voyage from Singapore to Sydney. 

On behalf of Crew Center team, we would like to extend our sincere gratitude and appreciation to the Albany Rescue Helicopter crew and all involved in the evacuation. Our prayers are with the crew member, and we wish him a speedy recovery.

  • The latest information is that the crew member was working in the Galley Department, and he experienced acute appendicitis. The captain announced that he is safe from the operation and is fine now.
