Following the protests in France, the cruise ship Costa Smeralda has canceled its scheduled arrival in Marseille. Instead, the first LNG powered cruise ship for Costa Cruises will sail directly to Italy. During her inaugural voyage, the ship departed from the Finnish shipyard Meyer Turku on December 5. The first stop was in Barcelona where the ship refueled its LNG tanks and was presented to the Spanish market in a grand ceremony.

As the cruise industry continues to grow, almost 225,000 crew members are currently working in liners every day. After all, this workforce is needed to provide services to the increasing numbers of passengers all over the world.

The Saturday, December 14, 2019 voyage aboard the Holland America Line’s cruise ship Nieuw Amsterdam has been cancelled due to unexpected technical issue. A horrible tragedy occurred today when guests sailing on the cruise ship Ovation of the Seas visited New Zealand's most active volcano Whakaari on White Island. Tourists have been caught up in the eruption of the volcano resulting in at least five deaths, and 27 people missing report news outlets in New Zealand. There are many people who have been taken to hospital with burns as a result of the eruption. 

The Italian cruise line Costa Cruises took delivery of the cruise ship Costa Smeralda, a new flagship powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), the fossil fuel with low environmental impact that represents a real novelty in the cruise sector. The delivery ceremony took place at the Meyer shipyard in Turku (Finland), where the ship was built. Costa Smeralda is the first ship of the Costa fleet to use liquefied natural gas both in port and at sea.

Marking a great milestone before her Inaugural Journey on April 1, 2020, Virgin Voyages’ first ship, Scarlet Lady, has successfully completed sea trials. The ship began its first phase of sea trials between November 15 and 18, sailing from Genoa to Marseille, and then a second phase from Marseille to Genova from November 27 to 30.

In an interview for Kevz Politics, Dominica Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit announced today that all cruise ship calls to Dominica have been canceled effective immediately. The decision comes after unrests intensified in the small Caribbean island nation ahead of elections on Friday, 06 December 2019. Prime Minister said that this decision will remain in effect until after the general election period when hopefully, this madness will subside.

Ten people from the cruise ship Norwegian Joy were treated by paramedics on Sunday morning at the Port of Los Angeles after they fell ill onboard just one week after a similar outbreak was reported on the same ship.

A tragic accident involving a tourist bus with cruise ship passengers and a red SUV happened today on the George Price Highway in Belize. The accident occurred after the van full with cruise ship passengers was returning from a popular tour at Jaguar Paw Cave. According to local sources the red SUV was attempting to overtake another vehicle when it collided into a white van carrying the tourists.
